Most people seem willing to endorse any form of draconian measure as 
long as they perceive an absolute "evil" against which they must be 
defended. A common thread in Nietzsche, Pynchon and other heretics is 
that this is illogical manipulation.

Two questions:

1. Then should "good" and "evil" be used?
2. Is it necessary for societies to mass manipulate?
