James Joyce sell out?

I don't think this is valid of Joyce in general -- the urine smell bit ...
not in a "territorial" (or, nationalistic?) sense, at least -- but I'm not
by any means claiming expert status. I find him very difficult to read or
enjoy. Doesn't mean I agree that he "sold out on ... ", which, thus far, is
an obscure remark to me also.
