I tried to add a note to the Stanford link earlier: I find it absurd to
think of Israel as some bastion of freedom and democracy when it only
applies to half its population. Or two-thirds as the case may be. Israel is
hell if you're Arab. Better off a Kurd in totalitarian Iraq than a
Palestinian in democratic Israel....Well maybe I don't mean that. I had
dreams last night that Bush was bombing California; bombs were falling right
in my back yard. So given the awful choice, I guess I'd try my luck as
Palestinian, but I'm telling you, Israel is hell if you're an Arab,
democracy or no.
