tess--I doubt there are many who doubt Pynchon's rep.,
but that aside, what's the point of gaining a wider
audience?  The same could be said for all those bands
one loved in the 70s who've gained a wider audience
during the 80s and 90s and are utter shit now (e.g.
king crimson). I don't believe this is the case with
DeLillo tho or his fault--I think the culture,
society, what have you has caught up to him.
