And with a whole 'nother Pynchon story up ...

Dark-skinned bad guys, light-skinned good guys ...

Dehumanized, undeveloped, absolutely evil others.
With dark skins. The only exceptions off the top of
my Tolkienesque head being a "white" wizard (who
becomes, in becoming evil, "many-coloured") who's bred
(and perhaps interbred, that specter of
"miscegenation" as corruption) an army of the
aforementioned others; his lackey, whose
characterization as grotesque, whose very name, serves
well enough to encode him as "bad"; another pasty
unfortunate for which see the previous remark; and, on
the other hand, a buncha sentient tree guys whose, er,
bark color never really comes up anyway ...

Arguing simply for the sake of arguing with me, or
Doug, is all, and that's it. What, finished bejboring
the obvious in re: "Low-lands"? Haven't given you
anything to be shrill about there yet? Hold on ...
