An Inventor Trapped in Nazi Evil

How does one approach this subject? 
A problem that Pynchon solved, as far as I'm
concerned, with his W/B character in GR. Blicero is
evil, but he's not quite a man. W is a man. His model,
of course, is Ahab. And Ahab's model was Milton's
Satan and some of Shakespeare's KIngs and so on. 


The evil empire, how far government & business will go
for profit ... political reading is interesting to a
point, but it can't quite make sense of books like GR.


We should remember and never forget, that IG was not a
monster, not a force of evil, not an evil empire, it
was not a nazi machine, it was men. It was men, like
you and like me. They were middle class men for the
most part. Protestant men, although there were lots of
Jews at IG. Smart, hard working, professional family
men. Creative, inventive, imaginative, men. Men, why
else would we care this subject?
