I disagree. I think you guys are wrong about this. 
This is the same kind of argumet  that blamed the USA
for the WTC terror attacks. The same ass-backward
argument that blames the USA for North Korea's
violation of the NPT. The same conspiracy logic that
keeps saying we need to see a smoking gun when anyone
that bothers to listen to the UN inspectors or read
the resolutions knows that a smoking gun has nothing
at all to do with the inspections, but is only a buzz
phrase that seeks to divert out attention from the
what is actually going on in Iraq and in the UN. The
regime in Iraq may sit and watch the war protestors on
CNN and smile, but they are not playing into his
hands. They are not to blame for his foolish plans and
decisions. He can avoid war and his ability to do that
has nothing at all to do with people marching in the
streets protesting their government's use of force to
solve international disputes and crisis. 

The folks like Cyrus, who claim to be prophets who can
see or predict the future are also wrong.  They can't
see of predict the future. So are the folks that no
nothing at all about economics who claim  that the war
will boost economies. If there is a war, it will not
help any economy in the world. The folks that claim
this war will be about oil are wrong too. 

Ah, but it will make the Carlyle guys rich. The
carlyle guys are all filthy rich already and they
certainly don't need a war to keep adding to their
fortunes. In fact, the risks of going to war for the
Carlyle group far outweigh any gains they might make
from a war. This is pretty fundamental stuff. Ah, but
what about the weapon that was header fro the crapper?
Connect the dots! Fortune magazine says....Yeah, well
that's pretty much the way the world works. Not that
it's good or fair, but it's the way things work,
Slothrop. Of course there are lots of people who watch
the government and the defense industry and report on
how the world works. They publish wonderful, details,
factual reports. No big secret. It's out there. But
it's the secrets, the bizzare coincidences, the
conspiracy that intersts the baby boomers. Ah, JFK!
Nixon. Secret bombings.  Tapes. Plots. 

Connect these dot and tell me what you get. 

Pynchon, Jackson, Bush, Barron, Walker, Harriman,
Smith. 

Isn't it interesting that Pynchon & Co. did business
with most of the same clients as Prescott Bush? 1930
it was all over for the Pynchons. How did they get
their money. Same way the Bush clan got theirs. 

Property (the took it in forclosures, ad irty filthy
and bloody business, Hawthorne wrote abook about
them). 
Fur trading (another bloody business). Guns.
RailRoads. 
Steel. Banks and Brokerage. Marriage. Changeing
