What about Entropy?

In GR 302, Slothrop wants to "preserve what he can of her [Katje] from 
Their several entropies, from Their softsoaping and Their money." That's 
all. Awful close to nobility.

In GR 324, "[...] the Rocket was an entire system won, away from the 
feminine darkness, held against the entropies of lovable but 
scatterbrained Mother Nature." It's not Their entropy; it's Nature's 
entropy, which They go against. Theirs is a system that promotes death.

Oh, and Enzian is growing cold: "not so much a fire dying away [which 
would be entropy] as a positive coming on of cold, a bitter taste 
growing across the palate of love's first hopes... [...] A discovery 
that love, among those men, [...] had to do with masculine technologies, 
with contracts, with winning and losing." A They-system. They work 
against entropy, They do not own it.
