Pynchon bios

It's interesting that the about the author blurb on the very first page of
my copy of _Vineland_ says nothing more than "Thomas Pynchon is the author
of ... " On the next page the exact same information is reproduced under the
heading: 'Also by Thomas Pynchon'.

Allowing that Pynchon might have had some input or control over what went
into the author bio here, and that the redundancy is conspicuous and
unnecessary, the message would appear to be that Pynchon is intent that his
works speak for themselves.

I wonder if there are any other editions of any of his works which seek to
provide more substantive biographical information. It seems to me that the
_Slow Learner_ 'Intro' is a very significant piece of writing in this
respect.
