By the way, as I'm (pointedly?) not reading along, I
don't know if anyone mentioned that not only does Vera
= Mme. Nabokov, but also vera = truth.  And Botkin
serves more strongly as an anagram of Kinbote if one
takes into acount that the "e" might well be silent
...
