That doesn't explain why they aren't discussing it elsewhere -- or why they
feel it is so very important to discuss it here and nowhere else. (Note to
Charles and others: I really don't have an ax to grind here -- I'm mainly
mystified and curious.)

I never claimed to be "all-knowing." I was merely one among another "good
number
of Pynchon fans [on] the P-list" who offered alternatives to the initial
proposal to merely hold a Nabokov discussion on the Pynchon list.

So do all of us. I point out that the delete button can be used by would-be
*senders*
to delete messages that are off-topic or merely intended to vent anger. Such
a simple gesture would
spare hundreds of would-be pynchon-l recipients the effort of deleting over
and over
again.
