I the sad thing is, I just promised TWO people off-list that I would stop replying to you. But I am afraid that my silence here might be equated to confirmation, so I have to at least deny this, and then I will shut the hell up.

This is a blatant lie, and frankly, I am surprised you would even stoop this low to "get" me. I have utterly no idea what you are talking about, and furthermore, I am shocked and hurt that you would even do this, because I thought our off-list conversation was remarkably civil, and dare I say, even friendly.

I'm done with you, Doug. I can't keep letting you wind me up, I feel like I am making a fool of myself in public lately by even rising to your bait. I am ashamed at how many of my posts these last few days have been humorless meta-posts, arguing pointlessly with you. I am frustrated more at myself and my lack of control than at you -- it's just in your nature to be a troll. Life is too short, and the Pynchon List too interesting, to let myself get worked about about your obvious distortions and lies.

Feel free to have the last word, hell, even make up something I "supposedly" wrote to you and post it to the List. Whatever. I far, far from anti-semitic, and I am certainly not rascist against the Chinese, and I feel embarrassed to even feel the need to *justify* this on account of you.

Swearing off the meta-fights for hopefully a long, long time,
