I was raised by druggies for a year or so in my youth. Northern California
druggies in fact. It remember it was part of the culture (and probably still
is) to wanna get over on the system. Maybe it was misplaced hatred of the
cops. Maybe the drugs made them think they had it coming. I don't know, but
they sure knew that welfare system. Rules, requirements, prison penalties
for defrauding it. Still, when I need advice about benefits and such, I
call my people in AA.
