VLVL2 (1): Names

Just to go back to the very beginning of VL, the cover. I have at least
one copy of each of Pynchon's novels. All of them have the words "Thomas
Pynchon" on the cover, except for Vinelind, which has "Pynchon". Is this
just a coinicidence holding true for my particular combination of
editions or is it true for all editions? 

If it's generally true, then I guess it re-inforces the "family" theme.
