No, I think it does work, even using Milton's version.  The fact that Eve
followed Satan was proof that she didn't understand the full implications of
her act. (remember my question about why they didn't jump off a cliff just to
experience the thrill of the ride?)  And she is essntially a child bucking up
against a Father's instructions.  The difference in her perspective compared to
God makes her a child.
