Many people, despite intelligence and good work habits, are incapable of
following a conventional career. Zoyd is probably one. (I'm pretty sure I
am.) I always thought that Zoyd could rationalize the deal in part by
thinking of taking money from the government as a way of "sticking it to the
man".
