At last a vocabulary word! First one in Vineland: Recrudescence, the
noun form of recrudesce, to break out anew or into renewed activity, as
after a period of quiescence. From the Latin recrudescere - to grow raw
again.
This word seems WAY out of place in the surroundings of the rest of the
words in the first two chapters, but the usage is so perfect. I'm sure P
just couldn't resist.
Incidentally, I don't believe it's been mentioned that Hector, besides
being a somewhat common male name, is also a relatively common verb
meaning "1. To intimidate or dominate in a blustering way. 2. To behave
like a bully; to swagger."
