Excelklent observation here, by the way.  I suspect
that many Pynchonian scenes are tracings from others. 
Here, the reference is almost generic, and immediately
recognizable as such, but I recall Keith's obs. about
Lord 'n' Lady Lepton vis a vis The Cymical Wedding of
Christian Rosenkreuz ...
