I would point out that one need not respond so much to
the "clearly" or whatever as to the argument itself. 
We've allowed ourselves--and I do mean ourselves
(though I find myself generously including myself here
...)--to get all too worked up about the strength with
which any given point is asserted, rather than the
point itself.  Quite unproductively.  Thanks ...
