Well, then, there you go.  Plenty o' time.  I do
recall Vineland sneaking up on me, but perhaps because
it showed up in the shops a week or two before I'd
expected it.  Despite that 1990 publication date, I
believe I had it ca. Christmas 1989.  Had to hear
about it on the streets (i.e., in a bar)--fortunately,
there was a nearby bookstore with late hours ...
