little tidbit (pbly apocryphal)in The Real
Odessa--that eichmann, low on cash and depressed in
argentina after the war tried his hand at writing
science fiction stories about martians who threaten
earth but who end up bestowing gifts instead, to the
argentines if memory serves.
Mr Goni's book is well-researched but he has a
tendency to repeat himself--the reader is forced to
skip around. but worth reading
with the pope visiting croatia today, doubt he'll
mention the help various Vatican and Church officials
gave to former members of the Ustashe (right wing
extremist catholics, for the most part) who wanted to
get out of europe and to places like argentina. (they
also helped such people as Mengele, various Belgian,
French fascists among others)
I presume Squalidozzi in GR represents a typical
anti-Peronist. Goni's book shows that many in trouble
didn't have to hide in a submarine to ferried over to
Buenos Aires--many made the trip smelling the free
ocean air.
