Looking in the archives I found this interesting post re. the last VLVL. Group
reads here usually follow this pattern: Everyone jumps on board at first, then
people slowly fade away leaving a small but devoted group to carry the ball.

Subject: VLVL, where are you?

Out of curiosity (and some disappointment) I decided to tally all posts to
pynchon-l@[omitted] since the beginning (Sat. Sept.19) of VLVL(1) into
"VLVL" or "OTHER" (I receive the digest, so it was a relatively easy task).
I made a point to include in the "VLVL" column all posts relating to
Vineland, including those that didn't use the VLVL(#) subject heading
protocol. The following are the results:
Total VLVL posts = 314
Total OTHER posts = 502
Last date VLVL posts exceeded Other posts: Fri, Sept. 25 (the first week
of VLVL)
Total VLVL post for first week of VLVL = 211
Total OTHER posts for first week of VLVL = 97
Total VLVL posts after first week of VLVL = 103
Total OTHER posts after first week of VLVL = 405
Conclusion? It seems to me that VLVL(1) ran out of gas after the first
week. Also, keep in mind that WAY over half of the OTHER post were
entirely, IMHO, unrelated to Pynchon's writings, unless all those
"influences" of every aspect of history, culture, humor, current events,
etc. qualify as such. Granted, the banter (but not the tiresome flaming
and endless badgering) is entertaining. Granted, VLVL(1) ran overtime by a
week. But, seems to me, Vineland, so far, aint holding our collective
attention too well.
Class? Any comments?
