Why DO people spend (prefer spend to waste) so much time on the p-list
and remain at it years (soon decades) at a time.

Several reasons.

Even after all these years they still are at least a little bit fond of
the Pyncher.

They have many friends here whom it would not be easy to give up.

Nothing in the world is easier, more fun or pleasurable than checking
one's e-mail. The p-list guarantees plenty of messages. This can't be
said for any of my other lists. Gaddis. Wallace. Joyce. Proust.

Probably forgetting something.
