Which would tend to confirm my reaction, but there are
topics he brings up in the novel: Turing, Turing's sexuality,
the WW II origins of the Secret State, the mathematics of
randomness and meaning w/r/t codes, and, of course, that
shadowy persona- some sort of a reverend, was it- who
seemed able to transcend time and circumstance, that do
stay with me.
