I think you may be missing Pynchon's gist here. The promise
is for more control, not necessarily by the "top brass" who
just might be a little "flat-footed" w/r/t the promise of the
net, but by us. We are not the ones who are out of control.
The MIC is out of control, not us, but we can use the net to
control ourselves and our communities, maybe, before the
electronic hem lines come down.
