Only by means of 'concepts' (allow for some elasticity here) is it possible
to recognize (or perceive) instances of 'the same'. It seems plausible that
perceptions lead to the forming of concepts as a means ordering these
perceptions. 'Lead to' in the sense that it takes a certain amount of data
to start recognizing recurring structures from which abstract categories can
be established.
