A man comes to you and tells you he is a pacifist and he believes in 
nonviolence. 5 minutes later he gets into a fight and kills 3 people. 
Which do you believe, his words or his actions? Just because someone 
claims to be a leftist doesn't mean he is. Just because someone claims 
he is not a fascist doesn't mean he isn't. You'll have to watch their 
actions and listen to their publicly stated opinions to figure that out.
