Perhaps that post escaped my attention, but I haven't seen  
MalignD make THAT association.....I believe that he has referred to 
 such in the SPECIFIC context  of the child in the classroom, not 
the artist in the garret.

I'm not entirely unfamiliar with the process........I had to transition  
from swedish to English english, and  then  onto its  'merican 
mutation. I also had a  mother who was entirely opposed to the use 
of "dilalects" in which ever language was employed, and who 
believed that transgressions merited corporal punishment. It didn't 
get any easier when I moved in with my Dad, a  man whose 
vocabulary was about a dozen obscure  articles away from Joyce's..

Why is this necessary? If he was as you say, he would likely have
ignored the discussion alltogether.......He appears  to believe, as I
and Morris do, that perpetuating an easily surmountable "handicap" in
 the interest of temporarily assauging an esteem problem is not 
only irrational, but ultimately counterproductive to the 
FUNDAMENTAL purpose of the educational process. It is merely a 
matter of differing priorities.....and ultimately, just how hard are the 
basic rules of english grammar? Among the easiest I've 
encountered.........

I'm not qualified....I just can't keep up with the volume.....though I 
will register my  surprise to occasionally find myself to the left  of 
Jbor, but I would never ascribe malice to his willful disregard  for my 
version of the truth......
