No mention of Pynchon in Harvard and the Unabomber
though Don Foster is mentioned at various times as
well as a most annoying litany of quotes from
literature, sociology and the like to link TK's
manifesto with those who have opposed or oppose the
rise and influence of technology and the cult of
science for the past 100 years. Long stretches read
like a lawyer's brief--one or two sentences teased out
of a much larger argument or part of a novel to
demonstrate that TK's ideas were scary to anarchists,
economic liberals, the media, etc. because they were
so close to their own. Therefore, it was imperative to
claim his as insane.
Another fault is that one has to wade thru close to
half of the book before any mention is made of TK's
time at harvard.
should have been much shorter, imho
fwiw...
