I've had much pleasure reading books I've learnt about from threads of this
nature in the past - particularly "Warlock" and the works of Charles Portis,
Viktor Pelevin and Kobo Abe
(not only pleasure - someone recommended "Mulligan Stew" by Gilbert
Sorrentino a few years ago, and I can't recall ever reading (two thirds of)
anything as tiresome)
My 2c worth
Katherine Dunn - Geek Love
William T Vollman - Seven Dreams
Machado de Assis - Philosopher or Dog?
Rodney Hall - Kisses of the Enemy
George Saunders - Civilwarland in Bad Decline
and as before
Elias Canetti - Auto Da Fe
Iain Sinclair - Downriver
John dos Passos - USA
Georges Perec - Life: A User's Manual
best
James
