Mr Monroe must step aside to let the other DM have a little refracted glory

 From yesterday's Guardian:

World beating whistler

With a rendition of the Czardas by Monti, Dave Morris, from Saddleworth,
Greater Manchester, has just secured the title of international grand
master and world champion at the International Whistlers' convention in
Louisburg, North Carolina.

Forty-eight whistlers took part, each required to perform a classical and a
popular number.

For his popular piece, Morris cunningly chose Sousa's march Stars and
Stripes Forever. "I was playing up to them and they loved it. I did all the
fancy high piccolo part afterwards and it went really well," he said later.

His triumph means lots of glory but no money, however.

Morris is well known as a brass band cornet player in the north-west and
was British champion in 1975.
