Well, it seems to me that there are a couple of arguments going on all at once here.  First, there's disgreement over just what Pynchon himself might be saying.  Then there are disagreements over any given position, disagreements which aren't necessarily dependent on whether or not Pynchon is actually positing them.  Is Pynchon inveiging against post-9/11 policies and practices, or isn't he, vs., are these policies and practices necessary, or are they repressive?  And so forth.  While the latter disagreements are inevitable here, the former are more to the point.  But there seems to be much slipping and sliding between them nonetheless.  Just seems we'd be more productive adhering more closely to the one line of enquiry than the other, is all ...
