1984 Foreword "fascistic disposition"

Me, I like Pynchon's "Foreword." Not necessarily anything about Orwell and/or 1984 that one wouldn't come across elsewhere (including that "hopeful" ending thing, which has long seemed an obvious possibility, especially in light of, before, Jack London's The Iron Heel and, after, Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale), but certainly more entertining than most, and, at any rate, suggestive to revelatory about Pynchon himself. "Better" or "worse" is beside the point here ("beyond good and duobleplusungood"?). Again (and again and again ...), ask not .... At any rate, we've Pynchon hot off the presses here, why avoid, evade, whatever him now? And keep one eye on the horizon ...
