That was the statement at the end of my previous post

If "homeland" brings all its meanings with it  how can
post-911 homeland security not be among them.  I don't
see this need to put blinders on and refuse to
acknowledge what's right there in Pynchon's text, 
insisting that Pynchon intends only a generalized
meaning or other specific meanings (all of which are
there in the text, too, of course) of "homeland" and
intends that we actively suppress the reverberations
this word has in the US today.  Of course you're free
to read it as you wish, the more readings the merrier.
