Yes, I understand your point here. I'd forgotten that the "War on Terrorism"
had been conflated with conventional warfare in the discussion of the
paragraph due to a failure to recognise or accept that the word "war" is
being used primarily as a metaphor in that phrase.

Still, I thought you were being generous in responding to the argument as if
it warranted any notice at all.
