Please point out where I've sought to do that. What
I've said most recently is that IF P were evoking
9/11, as others have insisted, the metaphor of
dropping bombs seems to me inapt. I've never said he
was evoking 9/11; in fact I think he is not. Nor have
I insisted upon any other reading. I've tried
continually to stick to the text, to what is there and
what is not and what, amongst the various things that
come to a reader's mind, can fairly be described as
the author's by intent. Very little, usually.
I've offered opinions, certainly. But I havent
insisted that those opinions were P's as well or were
based on what was in his mind while writing the Intro
or what he "obviously" intended.
