This is idiotic and the second time you've brought it
up. I was "speculating" ironically, rhetorically. 
There was no speculation.  Pynchon DID choose to begin
his Foreward in the same way that Ms. Chado began
hers:  each began with mention of Orwell's parentage. 
I wasn't offering a guess as to why he or she so
chose.  Had I, you'd have some semblance of a point.
