No, the above is backwards, albeit poetic.  The technology is produced in order
to have the advantage in the case of the next war, or to stand out as such a
deterrent as to dissuade aggression from others.

Right, it's not always about profit.  The technology is there for at least one
of the following:  
1.	aggression 
2.	defense (of self or others)
Mysticism may be fun, but in this context it only muddies the water.
