When you say "lunatics who claim that 2003 USA
equals Orwell's Oceania" you're talking about people
somewhere else, I assume, since nobody has made this
claim here on Pynchon-L.  I suggested some rough
parallels, in response to jbor's question when he
moved the topic from "does the Foreword refer to 9-11"
to "2003 USA equals Orwell's Oceania"  -- but nobody,
myself included, is claiming  "that 2003 USA equals
Orwell's Oceania".
