NP: 1984 nod in "Matrix Reloaded?"

I read 1984 the same year I read Dune and The Crying
of Lot 49 (along with, as I recall, Brave New World
and Solaris).  Keep in mind, this was in sixth grade. 
And it certainly didn't hurt me any.  Right?
