There are definitely people of "fascistic disposition" in the national body 
politic, but to say that the country is fascist is not only premature but 
counter-productive.  Certainly the Republican Party (and, by extension, the nation) 
has been temporarily (I hope) captured by a clique of extreme reactionaries.  

This doesn't mean there is a fascist dictatorship in power.  It means that 
the republic is an oligarchic junta that has taken control by quasi-legalistic 
tactics.
Fascism is a very specific form of totalitarian, authoritarian dictatorship, 
and we don't have that now.  In other words, there is still hope.
