The Cultural Politics of Ian Fleming and 007

In an effort to honor the author and scholar, Ian
Fleming, the English Department of Indiana University
Bloomington campus will host the first ever Fleming
academic symposium, The Cultural Politics of Ian
Fleming 007, which will correspond with the 50th
anniversary of the publication of Casino Royale. 

The connection between Indiana University and Ian
Fleming has significant historic roots. Mr. Fleming’s
world recognized primary source materials for the
great discoveries, inventions, and scientific theories
of the 19th and 20th century combined with the
original manuscripts of the James Bond 007 tales, both
of which are archived in the Lilly Library, have
brought international distinction to Indiana
University and to the Lilly Library....
