Have you ever heard French rap music? (Chime in here Monroe.) It doesn't
flow very well, but they dress nicely.
On the other hand, I once heard the Handel & Haydn Society performance of
Mozart's (!) version of the "Messiah". The German was breathtakingly
beautiful.
I guess that as a singer and musician, I hear language differently from you.
Try reading Vineland aloud sometime. Or On the Road. The cadence, phrasing,
and rhythm are beautiful. That's one of the reasons why I love Pynchon. Pull
a sentence out of Gravity's Rainbow and read it aloud.
