Takeshi breaks into a semi-erotic retelling of the way he entered the whorehouse in which he will soon meet DL, dressed like Frenesi, who will in turn see Takeshi but, thinking him Brock Vond, will inflict the Ninja Death Touch on him.

Lots of dramatic irony here.

Likewise, the themes of "perceptions" and "identity" continue to develop, as does the notion of doubling brought up in a few criticisms I posted earlier from The Vineland Papers.

And, if we care to reach for straws, the above erotic passage *may* have been influenced by Nabokov's Lolita . . . though, given its bad pulp tone, likely not.
