Every year I say Pynchon, but I've often doen okay
with my 2nd (as in, in case it's not Pynchon) choices,
at least (Oe, Grass, Naipaul come to mind, I at least
got "Chinese" and "Eastern Euuropean"--I might even
have named Kertesz simply from seeing his name
somewhere--right in recent years). My instinct here
is Bonnefoy, but ... well, I know people who won't bet
on Packers games because they won't bet against them,
they don't want to be wanting them to lose and they
don't want to be pissed off when they win, so ...
