I understand your point.  Mr. Shade does not say, "We would dismiss such
nonsense."  To my desiccated Midwestern mind, however, nonsense equals
absurdity or foolishness.  Perhaps we would not dismiss nonsense.  Perhaps
I am too pedantic.  But, yes, I am with you so far.  Please, continue.  V.
