Back on 9 July I mentioned that the earliest recording of "Every Dog Has
His Day" was sung by Sippie Wallace in 1925. I finally acquired a copy
of the song, and here are the lyrics:

There are men and women in this world just like myself
There are men and women in this world just like myself
Loving somebody and still loving someone else

Love has made a many folks a crop of bread
Love has made a many folks a crop of bread
Has made a million girls wish that they were dead

You mistreated me and drove me from your door
You mistreated me and drove me from your door
That goes to show me that you don't want me no more

But go on baby I'm going to let you have your way
But go on baby I'm going to let you have your way
Cause every dog must have his day
