>American dissent and protest during the Vietnam War is unique in modern

What a load of hogwash - the US my have stopped sending conscripts in the
early 70s (a domestic policy) but continued their military attack on the
Vietnamese people for a couple more years and after their defeat conducted
a diplomatic and economic attack for far longer. The details may have
changed but the intentions never did. They then continued with the same
policy of aggressive containment/destruction of communist and national
liberation movements right through the eighties.
