After the computer has wished Prairie (its "gentle User") "good night" the
story continues "in storage" (115. 121-123). And then, at the end of the
chapter: "It was a couple of weeks after their arrival, with Prairie by now
an old hand in the computer room ..." (128. 32-33). Therefore, one might
conclude that anything in the library has, by now, been seen by Prairie.
For the most part, the section in question (beginning in fact on 115.29)
focuses on DL's relationship with Frenesi, her family background, her
relationship with the sensei, etc. Insofar as this is beyond the resources
of the library, we're left with, and have no reason to doubt, the concluding
passage that begins: " A few years later, competing by then, DL heard about
the Sisterhood of Kunoichi Attentives at some meet, "'You know, the way you
do. Hitchhiked up as far as the end of the gravel, did the last few miles on
foot. Back then they let anyone who showed up crash here for free. Early
days, more idealistic, not so much into money.' She and Prairie were out
taking a break, down by the creek. It was a couple of weeks after their
arrival ..." (128.26-32).
It's a plausible conclusion that DL has told Prairie something. DL's speech
(128.27-31) isn't followed by a bewildered response from Prairie: "What the
fuck are you on about?" Which in turn indicates that she does know what DL
has been talking about.
