Maybe not, but Milton is in a bit of a pickle. It's an old pickle and
thousands upon thousands of great Christian men have been in it before
him and after. One of the Great things about PL is how Milton tap dances
in the pickle. Actually, it's a big pickle jar and tap dancing out of
one pickle puts a man in another. And another ... if you like pickles
... cucumber brandy ....

For example, God is said to change His determinations (Holy Scripture
says that
God repented ).

Augustine says, this is in reference to man's expectation, or the order
of
natural causes, and not with reference to that which the Almighty had
foreknown that He would do.

Man's expectations and the order of natural causes. Yeah, that's a good
one. Master several variations ... tap tap tap ... out of a pickle and
another and ....

See that Sunday School teacher looking at his feet? Tap, Tap.

Difficult steps.

Fortunately, on the Eighth Day, God created Great Jesuits. Jesuits all
study Irish dance and so they never look down at their feet. Oh, they
can dance. Remember your baby steps ... a random tap across time ... now
a giant leap over fate ... stretching the legs like Merlin balancing
tome and astrolabe while Disney strikes up the orchestra ... across the
universe past great Gnostics who sit on the rims of blacks holes
gnashing their teeth ... Fred Astaireing gravely on the expanding
ceiling of space ... look it's Russell's Balloon ... Bertrand with a
stack of Ludwig's Tractatus shredding it into the flame is still
tethered to Oz ....
